    Silica-Supported Phosphorus-Containing Catalysts Efficiently Promoted Synthesis of 1,8-Dioxo-octahydro-xanthenes under Solvent-Free Conditions

  • Abstract

    Synthesis of 1,8-dioxo-octahydroxanthene derivatives from dimedone and aldehydes using silica-supported phosphorus pentoxide (P2O5/SiO2) or Silicaphosphine (Silphos,
    [PCl3-n(SiO2)n]) as efficient and heterogeneous catalysts is described in this paper. The reactions were completed in relatively short reaction times under solvent-free conditions at 80 C and the products were obtained in good to excellent yields.
