    Protection of Carbonyl Compounds as Diacetals Using P2O5/SiO2 and P2O5/Al2O3 as Catalysts

  • Abstract

    A new, efficient and environmentally benign protocol for the acetalization of carbonyl compounds as pentaerythritol diacetal and diketal derivatives catalyzed by P2O5/SiO2 or P2O5/Al2O3 as an eco-friendly catalyst with high catalytic activity and reusability at
    100 oC under solvent-free conditions in excellent yields and short reaction times is reported.
