    Methanol Extract of Rumex Vesicarius L. as Eco-Friendly Corrosion Inhibitor for Carbon Steel in Sulfuric Acid Solution

  • Abstract

    The inhibiting effect of Rumex vesicarius L. extract on the carbon steel corrosion in H2SO4 was studied by weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical frequency modulation and electrochemical impedance techniques. The efficiency of the extract increased with increasing the extract concentration and with rising the temperature. The Ea* (activation energy) and other parameters for the corrosion procedure have also been measured and discussed. potentiodynamic polarization measurements specified that this extract acts as mixed type inhibitor and chemically adsorbed on carbon steel surface following the Temkin isotherm. The data from different tests are in excellent agreement.
