The method of potentiometric determination of pharmaceutically important nimesulide by using isopropyl alcohol as the solvent and alcoholic KOH as the titrant has been developed. The titrations were carried out using glass and calomel electrodes. Study of the effect of solvent, concentration and the estimation of nimesulide in single component tablets has been also carried out. The method was found to be satisfactory for assay of nimesulide and results obtained are comparable with those obtained by British Pharmacopoeia (B. P) method.
