Inhibitory action of Phyllanthus amarus extracts on the corrosion of mild steel in seawater was studied by weight loss method and potentiodynamic polarization technique. The potentiodynamic polarization results reveal that the leaves extract behaved like anodic type inhibitor. Maximum inhibition efficiency of Phyllanthus amarus in seawater was found to be 98%. The protective film has been analyzed using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and Fluorescence spectroscopy.
