4DescriptionAbstract Coleus root spent (CRS) was used as an efficient adsorbent for the removal of methylene blue (MB). Morphological properties of the adsorbent were studied using SEM and FTIR. The adsorption parameters such as initial dye concentration, contact time, pH and temperature were studied. Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models were used to explain the adsorption behaviour. Pseudo first order and second order kinetic models were used to study adsorption kinetics. The maximum adsorption capacity value (qmax = 66.66 mg g-1) for Langmuir isotherm was near to the experimental value (Qmax = 58.00 mg g-1). It is confirmed that, CRS is an efficient adsorbent for removal of MB from aqueous solution
