| 4 | Description | Abstract | Eight new organyltellurium(IV) chelates with bidentate Schiff base formed by condensation of o-vanillin and 2-aminophenol having formula o-VAPH.RTeCl2, o-VAPH.R2TeCl have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductance, infrared and proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectral studies. The data predict the pentacoordination of tellurium atom by monobasic bidentate(ON) Schiff base having Ψ-trigonal bipyramidal geometry. Some of these complexes have also been observed to possess antifungal and antibacterial activity. |
