4DescriptionAbstract Densities (ρ), ultrasonic speeds of sound (u) of binary mixtures of propiophenone (PPH) with 1- propanol, 1-butanol and 1-pentanol were measured over the entire composition range at temperatures from 303.15 to 318.15 K and at atmospheric pressure 0.1 MPa. From the experimental data, excess isentropic compressibility KsE, partial molar compressibility (PMC)Kosm,1 , Kosm,1 excess partial molar compressibility Ko,Esm,1 , Ko,Esm,1 over the whole composition range and Ko,E, ∞sm,1 , Ko,E, ∞sm,1 at infinite dilution were calculated. The excess isentropic compressibility values correlated using Redlich-Kister polynomial equation. The variation of these parameters with composition and temperature of the mixtures have been discussed in terms of molecular interactions in these mixtures. The observed trend in excess isentropic compressibility values indicates the presence of specific interactions between propiophenone and 1-alkanol molecules. It is observed that excess isentropic values depend upon the number of hydroxyl groups and alkyl chain length in these binary mixtures.
