4DescriptionAbstract In this paper we have reported the synthesis of 2-bromo-3-hydroxy-2-nitropropyl-cinnamate through esterification of 2-bromo-2-nitropropan-1,3-diol (Bronopol) with cinnamoyl chloride. Bronopol (2-bromo-2-nitro-1,3-propanediol) is an organic compound that is used as an antimicrobial. The synthesised compound was confirmed by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, FT IR, UV-Vis and Fluorescence spectra.
