4DescriptionAbstract Development of new therapeutic agent Schiff bases is now attracting the attention of medicinal chemist. The cardanol Schiff bases are derived extensively from CNSL and its five various metals potential towards the field of pharmaceutical science. Synthesis and analysis of cardanol consisted Schiff base ligand along with its complexes such as Cu, Co, Ni, Zr and they are considered as a novel tetradentate cardanol contained Schiff base ligand molecules. Several physicochemical and spectroscopic methods including elemental and thermal analysis, molar conductance and magnetic susceptibility measurements, 1H NMR, 13 C NMR and HRMS spectral studies, were used to find out the stereochemistry and binding mode of these complexes. Moreover, antioxidant and protease activity have also been analysed, apart from the present result which shows that the copper complexes perform better antimicrobial activity than the other four complexes. Furthermore, amongst the five experimental complexes all the four complexes illustrated betterment potent effect of apoptotic cell death on HeLa cancer cell lines particularly copper complex possessed more powerful anticancer effect than other complexes like cobalt, nickel, zirconium and thorium.
