4DescriptionAbstract UV-Vis spectrophotometric study of the complex formation of Salen type Schiff bases as donors with Me2SnCl2 as an acceptor have been investigated in chloroform. The formation constants were measured using UV-Vis spectrophotometric titration for 1:1 complex formation and by Ketelaar equation in the range 15-30 oC. Thermodynamic parameters were determined by using Von’t Hoff equation. The formation constant of the Schiff bases with dimethyletin(IV) dichloride in chloroform decreases according to the following trend: 3- MeOSalen > 4- MeOSalen > 5- MeOSalen » Salen > 5- BrSalen and Me2Salen > Salbn » Salpn > Salen > Salophen
