4DescriptionAbstract Knoevengal condensation of heteroaryl aldehydes with active methylene compounds in aqueous medium at room temperature is described. The products are obtained with excellent yields in short reaction times without using any catalyst. Products require no further purification. Newly synthesized compounds have shown good to excellent biological activities against Staphylcoccus aureus, Klebsialla pneumoniae, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
