4DescriptionAbstract Bleaching of organic cotton fabric can be done with hydrogen peroxide in which Catalase, a non-toxic, environmentally friendly biocatalyst is used to remove the residual H2O2 in a cost effective way for the better improvement of the cellulosic fabric properties. Enzyme treated organic cotton fabric was dyed with a natural dye obtained from orange corolla tube of Nyctanthes arbour-tristis flower with the use of ultrasonic power (38.5 kHz and 500W) and Conventional heating conditions. Ultrasonic power dyed fabric was compared with conventional dyeing by studying their dyeability. Optical density measurements were done for both dyed organic cotton samples. The ultrasound assisted dyeing process gave better dye absorption and fastness properties than that of conventional method using mordants.
