4DescriptionAbstract Homo and heterodinuclear complexes of Co(II) and Ni(II) were obtained by reaction between the corresponding complexes of salicylaldehyde and o-aminophenol. Elemental and metal compositions of these mixed metal complexes were obtained using analytical methods. Thermal characterization of the complexes was done using TGA. Spectral methods like infrared spectroscopy, UV-Visible spectroscopy, spectrofluorimetry and mass spectrometry were employed for structural elucidation. Magnetic properties of these complexes were extensively studied using Guoy Balance and VSM at variable fields and temperatures. Low temperature ferromagnetism was exhibited by homodinuclear complexes while the heterodinuclear complex showed antiferromagnetic coupling at low temperature. The most stable structure was identified using molecular mechanical method.
