4DescriptionAbstract Biosorption of copper from aqueous solutions by Carissa carandas and Syzygium aromaticum was investigated in batch mode. Biosorptivity of both of these biosorbents has been correlated with the pH change, agitation time and dose of adsorbent and concentration of metal ions in the solution. Biosorbent Carissa carandas leaf powder showed higher sorption efficiency than that of biosorbent Syzygium arometicum powder under identical experimental conditions. Also, the adsorption of Cu(II) onto Syzygium arometicum was best described by the Langmuir isotherm model. The maximum adsorption capacities estimated from Langmuir isotherm model for Cu(II) were 54.2 mg/g and 76.61 mg/g for Carissa carandas and Syzygium arometicum respectively.
